Not only is Allison one of the few Hand Physiotherapists in Central London, she is the only Hand Specialist who is also specialises in the Upper Limb including the Shoulder with over 20 years experience. Most hand specialists traditionally only treat hands, however, Allison is unique in that she is the Lead Physiotherapist in London who is specialised in both.

What Service Allison provides:-

Allison is able to provide Hand Therapy treatment for all hand injuries, whether it is a traumatic injury, post op care or caused by over use/repetitive strain type injury. Allison has worked as a Hand Specialist as a MSK Specialist in the NHS and private practice throughout her career.

Why Choose Allison?

She recognises that most people including patients are unaware on what type of hand injuries you can sustain until they it happens to them. They are far more common than what most people actually realise. Sustaining a hand injury is not just a physical trauma but also an emotional trauma. Understandably, most patients do not realise the impact on their lives until they actually have a hand injury. The impact on your everyday life is dramatic. Suddenly a patient realises they are not able to do gym sessions in quite the same way, or do cycle, or do yoga, or pilates. Patients who enjoy exercise very quickly realise it is not just the sport it stops but has an even bigger impact on their level of activity.

When seeing Allison for the first time, whether it is a wrist sprain or post surgery, she is able to reassure the patient on what their journey will be like from the very beginning to making a full recovery. Having worked with professional sports people throughout her career, she has the experience and knowledge on the both physical and emotional aspect. She understands and has the experience to direct patients in what exercises they are able to keep to maintain a level of fitness without compromising their hand recovery. Allison says “.. for the patient to feel confident in their treatment, they need a greater level of trust and know their physical and emotional needs are being met. Treating hands is probably the most complicated part of the body to treat, as, without the use of your hands you are unable to perform any tasks and this has a profound impact on the patient’s well-being. Whether you are a professional athlete or not, everyone needs their hands to perform tasks and do their job.”
